Starlink Live Streaming

Low-earth-orbit satellite internet that can put a usable uplink almost anywhere with a clear view of the sky.

starlink live streaming — live production

New York Live Streaming

Starlink is a low-earth-orbit satellite internet service that can deliver a broadband connection at locations with no wired infrastructure, as long as the dish has a clear view of the sky. For live production it opens up sites that used to be impractical: remote fields, parks, festival grounds, construction sites, temporary corporate locations, and cemeteries. New York Live Streaming uses Starlink as a primary uplink where cellular coverage is weak, and as an independent second path in redundant setups. Because performance depends on sky visibility, weather and network conditions, we test it on site and never rely on it as the only connection for a critical event.

Good use cases

  • Outdoor and remote venues with no broadband and poor cell coverage
  • Golf tournaments, sports fields, parks and festival sites
  • Graveside and cemetery services
  • Temporary or newly built corporate locations before circuits are installed
  • An independent backup path that doesn't share the venue's infrastructure

Limitations we plan around

Starlink needs an unobstructed view of the sky — trees, tall buildings and tents cause dropouts. Upload throughput varies with congestion and time of day and is lower than download. Heavy rain and snow reduce performance. The dish needs power and a cable route to the stream position, and some venues restrict where equipment can be placed. We account for all of this in the site survey and, for anything high-stakes, pair Starlink with bonded cellular so two independent media are carrying the stream.

Starlink capacity and hardware change as the service evolves, so we confirm real-world upload performance during the on-site survey rather than relying on published spec-sheet figures.

Starlink + bonded cellular together

The most resilient field setup we build uses more than one medium at once: a dedicated wired circuit where one exists as primary, Starlink as a second path, and bonded cellular across multiple carriers as a third. The encoder spreads or fails over across whatever is available. Not every production needs all three — the connectivity design follows the event's criticality, location and budget.

Capabilities we plan and integrate

  • Starlink / satellite connectivity

Low-earth-orbit satellite internet used as a primary or backup path at remote and outdoor locations with a clear view of the sky.

  • Bonded cellular uplink

Multiple cellular modems across different carriers aggregated into one resilient uplink for locations without dependable wired internet.

  • Backup / redundant streams

A second encoder and network path configured as an automatic or manual failover for the primary stream.

  • Dedicated / temporary event internet

Coordination of a dedicated circuit, VLAN, or static IPs with the venue or an ISP, plus on-site network testing before the event.

Capabilities are scoped and confirmed per event. We do not claim certifications or assert a feature that has not been validated for your setup.

Frequently asked questions

Can you run a whole live stream on Starlink alone?
For lower-stakes events in a good location, yes. For anything important we pair it with bonded cellular or a wired path so a single medium isn't a single point of failure.
How much sky does the dish need?
As clear a view as possible. Obstructions from trees, buildings or event tents cause brief dropouts each time a satellite passes behind them. We scout placement during the site survey.
Does weather affect it?
Heavy rain and snow can reduce throughput. We monitor the forecast and keep a second path ready for outdoor events.
Can Starlink be our backup internet for an indoor event?
Yes — that's a strong use case. It gives you a connection that is completely independent of the venue's ISP, so a building-wide outage doesn't take the stream with it, provided the dish can be placed with sky visibility.
